Paris Pret-a-Porter: The Bombshell Collection
Last fall collection for Miu Miu was highly urban influenced with camouflage for Fall and Winter, but with this Spring/Summer collection, Muccia has forged the change into Spring with more florals, more feminine, more 1940’s style influences like ruffles and floral embellishments.
Restarting from scratch as the show set particle board insinuates, the feeling she presented welcomes a new canvas, spanning multigenerational collaborations of styles thru our times. Altho that hint of 1940’s she’s recognised for was still present, she created a mixed quilt of “1940’s bombshell” X “punk” but “elegant”, modern and chic in the arrangements. Very 2020! It all felt knew but recognisable, mixed generations like the 40’s, 80’s & 90’s with Crop sweaters with thick suspender straps on skirts, Oversized tartan mens style suits as” vests” oufits, decorative large colourful buttons something very “suitable” to Italian weather… she brought it back.
As Muccia downplays the Mother brand, in Miu Miu we seem to grasp the modern elegance and style of why she shows in Paris. Elegance without being pretentious , Color, Bold, Rebel, Bombshell tough because it wasn’t sexualised fashion. Spring 2020 will absolutely be more colourful as Miu Miu Spring 2020 shows us now. All the Hollywood celebrities and fashion influencers present at anything Miu Miu seems to prove its a mutual respect, and with this Spring collection, satisfies that relationship… and we’ll be happily awaiting her arrival.
