Patricia Bonaldi’s Brasil Esplêndido transformed Brazilian nature, modernism and craftsmanship into a vivid Spring 2027 collection at New York Fashion Week.

At New York Fashion Week, PatBO did not simply bring Brazil to New York. Founder and Creative Director Patricia Bonaldi presented a version of Brazil defined on its own terms — expressive, handcrafted, modern and impossible to reduce to a passing trend.
For Spring 2027, the designer introduced “Brasil Esplêndido,” a collection inspired by the relationship between Brazilian nature, landscape design and the country’s modernist tradition.
Presented outdoors at Domino Square in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the show marked PatBO’s 13th season at New York Fashion Week and the first fashion runway presentation staged at the waterfront venue. PatBO was also the only Brazilian label on the official NYFW calendar for the season.
Nature Meets Architecture
Across the collection, Bonaldi moved between two seemingly opposing ideas: fluidity and structure.
PatBO’s familiar sense of movement remained through sweeping fringe, draping and body-conscious silhouettes, but Spring 2027 introduced increasingly architectural forms and unexpected proportions.
Organic shapes appeared beside stronger construction, while vibrant color and texture reinforced the collection’s maximalist spirit.
Bonaldi described the season as an opportunity to experiment with the shapes associated with PatBO, developing a collection that remained recognizably glamorous while expanding the label’s design vocabulary.
The Hand of Brazil
The craftsmanship behind PatBO remained central.
Intricate embroidery, transparent fabrications, dimensional detailing and hand-finished surfaces highlighted the work of the Brazilian artisans responsible for producing the collection.
It is an important distinction for a brand whose global image remains deeply connected to the craft traditions of its home country.
The brand approached beachwear and eveningwear with the same elevated language. Mesh, fringe and fluid silhouettes appeared alongside sculptural volumes and graphic cutouts, creating pieces designed to move as much as they were designed to be seen.
Jacquards also played a significant role, including intricately detailed separates that brought another layer of texture and construction to the collection.
Brazil Has Always Been the Moment
Behind Brasil Esplêndido is a broader statement about Brazilian culture’s place on the international stage.
Speaking around the collection, Bonaldi pushed back against the idea that Brazil is only now experiencing a global cultural “moment.” Her perspective is simpler: Brazil has always possessed the creativity, energy and cultural influence attracting international attention — what has changed is how closely the rest of the world is watching.
That distinction gives Spring 2027 its strength.
Rather than presenting Brazilian identity as decoration, PatBO used the country’s landscape, artistic language, craftsmanship and sense of movement as the foundation of the collection.
And against the industrial waterfront of Brooklyn, the contrast worked.
A Growing PatBO Universe
Spring 2027 also arrives as PatBO continues expanding beyond the categories that established its international following.
Following the introduction of footwear for Fall 2026, the brand is extending its universe with eyewear for Spring 2027 — another step toward building PatBO into a broader lifestyle proposition.
But even as the business expands, the runway showed where its identity remains strongest: color, sensuality, exceptional handwork and an unmistakably Brazilian point of view. With Brasil Esplêndido, Patricia Bonaldi did not ask New York to discover Brazil. She asked it to look again.
