Eight years after her last major concert appearance in Spain, Shakira is back — and this time, she isn’t passing through Madrid.
On September 18, the Colombian superstar opened a 12-concert residency at Estadio Shakira, a temporary venue created within Madrid’s Iberdrola Music complex in Villaverde. The run continues across four weekends through October 11, turning the Spanish capital into the only European destination for this chapter of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour.
A Return Eight Years in the Making
Opening night brought approximately 55,000 fans into Estadio Shakira for a career-spanning performance that connected the artist Shakira was three decades ago with the global performer she has become today.
The set moved between generations of her catalog, mixing early material and international hits with music from the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran era.
One particularly appropriate addition was “Te Dejo Madrid,” which returned to the set for the Madrid residency. Shakira also revisited songs associated with different periods of her career, creating a show designed as much around memory as her current musical chapter.
That balance matters.
Shakira is not treating Madrid simply as another city on a touring schedule. The residency format gives the show something touring rarely allows: permanence. For nearly a month, audiences come to her.

The scale of the project begins with the venue itself.
Estadio Shakira was created specifically for the residency inside Iberdrola Music and can accommodate more than 50,000 people per performance. Current ticketing lists 12 concerts taking place on September 18, 19, 20, 25, 26 and 27, followed by October 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11.
Across the entire run, attendance is expected to reach more than 600,000 people, giving the residency a scale that feels much closer to a month-long cultural event than a conventional sequence of arena concerts.
Beyond the Stage: Welcome to Macondo Park
The concept extends well beyond what happens once Shakira walks onto the stage.
Estadio Shakira sits within Macondo Park, a temporary cultural environment incorporating music, gastronomy, art, fashion, literature, cinema and interactive experiences.
The idea is to allow audiences to enter Shakira’s world hours before the concert begins rather than simply arriving for a two-hour performance.
That approach reflects the increasingly blurred line between touring, entertainment and experience design.
A major artist is no longer limited to selling a concert ticket. A residency can create a destination — one capable of bringing together fans, hospitality, food, fashion, cultural programming and a city itself.
