Onitsuka Tiger Spring 2027: Full Speed Ahead at Milan Fashion Week

Andrea Pompilio turns the Onitsuka Tiger runway into an “Energy Station,” where tailoring, sportswear, Western references and motorcycle culture collide.

Onitsuka Tiger arrived at Milan Fashion Week with movement on its mind. For Spring/Summer 2027, creative director Andrea Pompilio created “Energy Station,” an imagined crossroads where travelers, cultures and identities meet before continuing toward their next destination.

The concept became physical inside the show space. A gas station anchored an environment populated with elements including a café, flower shop, laundry and supermarket, while motorcycles helped establish the collection’s road-trip energy.

Tailoring Meets the Open Road

At the center of the 49-look collection was a fusion of tailoring and sportswear.

Rich earth-toned suits appeared alongside silky shirts and newly proportioned trousers. More casual combinations brought together work jackets, wide shorts, denim, hoodies, tank tops and leather outerwear.

Pompilio layered these elements with references stretching from the 1960s to grunge and the American West. Devoré velvet minidresses carried silk fringe, while suede, leather and utilitarian pieces extended the Western influence.

The result was less about committing to one aesthetic than allowing different wardrobes to exist together — polished and undone, athletic and tailored, nostalgic and contemporary.

Onitsuka Tiger × Honda

The collection’s theme of mobility became literal through a collaboration with Honda.

Motorcycle culture informed lightweight mesh and jersey garments, racing-inspired graphics and accessories carrying Honda’s wing emblem. The partnership extended beyond clothing with the unveiling of the Onitsuka Tiger Honda Mid Sports Concept motorcycle.

Rather than treating performance gear as a separate category, the collaboration placed its functional language directly inside Pompilio’s fashion vocabulary.

A New Tiger Stripe

Footwear also marked an important development for the Japanese brand.

Onitsuka Tiger introduced a newly evolved version of its signature stripe, retaining the identity of the historic graphic while reshaping it for the brand’s next chapter.

The MEXICO X66 appeared in antique-effect metallic leather and new colors and was also transformed into a mule. Elsewhere, loafers, lace-up heeled boots, pumps and stilettos demonstrated how far the label continues to push beyond the traditional sneaker.

The Road Ahead

“Energy Station” ultimately worked as more than a runway theme. It represented a brand positioning itself between its sporting origins and an increasingly expansive fashion identity.

Onitsuka Tiger isn’t abandoning its heritage. Spring/Summer 2027 suggests something more interesting: the house is using that heritage as fuel.
