Haider Ackermann strips Tom Ford back to its most recognizable ingredients — impeccable tailoring, exposed skin and unapologetic sensuality — for Spring 2027 in Paris.
There are fashion houses where sex appeal functions as decoration. At Tom Ford, it has always been closer to architecture. For Spring/Summer 2027, creative director Haider Ackermann leaned directly into that history while continuing to establish what Tom Ford looks like under his own direction.
Presented in Paris on September 30, the collection brought together razor-sharp jackets, provocative swimwear, fluid silk robes and looks designed around the tension between being dressed and being exposed. The result was less about piling on clothing and more about deciding exactly what needed to remain.
THE JACKET DOES THE WORK
Tailoring remains one of the clearest connections between Ackermann and the Tom Ford vocabulary.
A beautifully constructed jacket does not need much help. Spring 2027 repeatedly made that argument, pairing formal structure with bare skin and allowing the precision of the cut to become the focal point.
It creates a particular kind of confidence: polished without becoming conservative and provocative without depending on excess. That balance has become increasingly important to Ackermann’s interpretation of the brand.
SEDUCTION WITHOUT THE COSTUME
Tom Ford has never been afraid of sexuality. What is changing under Ackermann is the volume. Rather than trying to reproduce the overt glamour associated with earlier chapters of the house, Ackermann has been filtering its sensuality through his own quieter, sharper perspective.
Swimwear, exposed bodies and robe-like silhouettes gave Spring 2027 plenty of provocation, but the collection rarely needed to shout. The clothes rely on posture, proportion, fabric and the person wearing them. That distinction matters.
A TOM FORD UNIFORM TAKES SHAPE
Several seasons into Ackermann’s tenure, a clearer house language is beginning to emerge.
The ingredients are familiar: beautifully controlled tailoring, evening clothes with movement, rich surfaces and an underlying sense of danger, but the combination increasingly feels personal to Ackermann.
His version of Tom Ford is not interested in nostalgia for its own sake. Instead, he appears to be asking which parts of the original fantasy still feel powerful now.
Spring 2027 suggests the answer is fairly simple.
A great jacket.
A body.
A little silk.
And enough confidence to leave everything else behind.
For a house built on seduction, that may be all Tom Ford needs.
