McQueen Returns to London for Spring 2027 With Angels, Ravers and Razor-Sharp Tailoring

McQueen came home for Spring 2027.
After 25 years away from the official London Fashion Week schedule, the British house returned to the city where its story began, with creative director Seán McGirr presenting a collection that connected McQueen’s heritage with the contradictions of contemporary London.
Shown inside the historic Undercroft of Lincoln’s Inn Chapel, the collection placed centuries-old architecture against clothes shaped by nightlife, rebellion and precise British craftsmanship. It was an environment suited to McGirr’s central idea: bringing two seemingly incompatible worlds together.
Between the Sacred and the Underground
One of McGirr’s primary references was Piero della Francesca’s Renaissance painting The Baptism of Christ. Its calm composition, pale colors and angelic imagery became one side of the collection’s visual language.
On the other was London rave culture.
That collision appeared throughout the clothes. Tailored jackets developed shoulders and sleeves resembling folded angel wings, while mesh, perforated leather, sporty knits and flashes of color pulled the collection toward the energy of the nightclub.
There were sheer, body-skimming dresses, corseted evening looks and satin gowns interrupted by harder elements. Metallic leaves appeared scattered across garments as though caught by the wind after a night out.
McQueen Craft Comes Forward
The collection also reconnected McGirr with some of the craftsmanship deeply associated with the house.
Jewelry designer Shaun Leane, whose work became an important part of Lee Alexander McQueen’s runway language, collaborated on sculptural metal elements and harnesses for the collection.
McGirr also worked with Huntsman, the legendary Savile Row tailor with longstanding links to McQueen, on three bespoke menswear looks made from heritage British wool. The collaboration brought traditional tailoring into conversation with the more rebellious proportions associated with designers such as Tommy Nutter.
That balance between discipline and disruption became one of Spring 2027’s strongest ideas.
Darkness, Reworked
McQueen has always understood beauty through contrast.
For Spring 2027, delicacy repeatedly met something harder: fluid gowns against rigid harnesses, romantic fabrics beside industrial metal, traditional tailoring altered through exaggerated construction.
One of the collection’s most striking pieces was a dress built from individually embroidered interlinked metal skulls. Elsewhere, metallic foliage, distorted jacquards, exposed corsetry and sharply constructed jackets continued the conversation between beauty and unease.
But this was not simply an exercise in reproducing the past.
McGirr used recognizable McQueen codes as ingredients rather than costumes, bringing them into a collection grounded in the London he knows — a city where historical architecture, Savile Row tradition, nightlife and youth culture continuously occupy the same space.
A London Homecoming
The significance of Spring 2027 extends beyond individual looks.
Returning McQueen to London reconnects one of British fashion’s most influential houses with the environment that helped create it. McGirr has described London as central to both the brand and his own creative development, while McQueen’s leadership has recently emphasized renewed attention to tailoring, craftsmanship and the house’s British identity.
Spring 2027 therefore feels like more than a change of runway location.
It is a homecoming — one that puts McQueen’s past back into direct conversation with its future.
